Woodbridge, New Jersey, September 15, 2026

Public Meeting:
Council President McAuliffe: We will now go into the public comments portion of the meeting.
When approaching the microphone, please state your name and what section of township or state
that you live in. You will have a one-time opportunity to speak. All members of the audience
shall adhere to the Township Decorum Ordinance which is posted on the entrance of the doors of
the council chambers. The public session allows for five minutes and that includes remarks by the
speaker and any response by the Council President or Administration. When there is one minute
left, I will alert the speaker as to emphasize any remaining points or questions they may have.
When the 5 minutes have passed, the speaker is to leave the microphone area and return to their
chairs. All videotaping must be taken in the designated area. There will be no interruptions from
your chair. Please make sure there are no signs or posters in the aisles, walkways, or exit area.
The public portion of the meeting is a comment and/or Q & A interaction between the Council
President and the speaker. Council President presides over the council meeting.
Adam Efrus: Asked about the councils’ feelings on how they will move forward on Flock
cameras since last meeting and removing them.
Joseph Nisky, Police Director: I would highly recommend the council not consider getting rid of
the Flock cameras. They are a tool in law enforcement.
Adam Efrus: I’m going to challenge that; they might be useful for law enforcement but also
used for a lot of really bad things which makes it sound like you didn’t do your research on them
or you don’t care. I ask the council to reconsider and I will just keep coming back asking. You
see people taking them down themselves around the country, not saying I will do that. They are
not good for the public.
John Vrtaric, Woodbridge: We approved about 10 million dollars to extend Omar Avenue in
Avenel. I know its going to be an expensive project, and its good but what is the final cost and
will the taxpayers have to foot the bill? Will the taxpayer or the corporation benefit? I know you
said it will create jobs, but most of the jobs are robots. The robots are built in foreign countries.
Mayor McCormac: The time to ask that question was 2 meetings ago when we had all the
information in front of us because that is when we actually voted on it, but, file an OPRA request
to get the information. Some of the money was paid for by the developer if the warehouse that
was built and being renovated now to sign a tenant. The county paid for some; the township has
a piece of it. The robots, you have not seen inside any of those 6 warehouses to claim that. The
warehouse pays over 6 million a year in taxes to the town almost all in PILOT payments, so the
piece that we have to pay for that is dwarfed by the amount of money we collect from those
warehouses. We get almost $2 million from the new warehouse, which is not rented yet for the
past 3 years. They will be doing improvements which will bring it up to $2.5 million a year.
John Vrtaric, Woodbridge: They only want to rent it to one tenant. They also didn’t have a road
before.
7

Woodbridge, New Jersey, September 15, 2026

Mayor McCormac: That is their business. That was all in the plan, they couldn’t rent their
warehouse without there being a road to get to it.
John Vrtaric, Woodbridge: How do you know it’s going to be approved? When was it approved?
Mayor McCormac: It was approved years ago by the planning board. If you OPRA the
information it will tell you.
John Vrtaric, Woodbridge: I know it’s going to the west not the north?
Mayor McCormac: You don’t know anything; you don’t know when the approval was given nor
have you been inside the warehouses.
John Vrtaric, Woodbridge: Are the warehouse paying more property taxes because of the new
road?
Mayor McCormac: No, but they are paying $6 million dollars a year and from that we can
certainly afford to pay improving those roads to lead to the warehouses.
John M. Mitch, Municipal Clerk: Are there any other comments from the public this evening?
Hearing no comments, Can I get a motion that the public comment portion be closed?
Councilman Small made a motion, seconded by Councilwoman Meehan and carried
unanimously. Council President McAuliffe closed the public comment portion of the meeting at
6:12 P.M.
