e Between October 23 — January 21, 6 officers will retire
« Officers attended the Back to School Bash at the American 1 Fair Event Center
¢ 2 shootings took place, one victim was released, and the other one is under
investigation. Both have made a full recovery.
e A Drone operation is up and running and launch as needed. Funding for Docking
stations is in the works. Batteries for the Drones run 22-25 minutes
« Flock cameras, there is a misrepresentation of their use. Educating the
community is vital, and understanding they are different from the cameras used
to record vehicles running red lights, they only record license plates on the back
of vehicles
® No vandalism regarding the Flock cameras, just one was turned around
© One question regarding a young man hit by a train. Railroad police conducts
those investigations. The accident was not in Jackson County
« Officer Warren Johnson is back at Parkside for the last year of his 5-year rotation
« Another officer is recovering from a fall

e 9/8 next meeting
e Encampment ordinance is on the agenda
e Parking regulations
. MLK/CIA
e AME church located on Franklin St. was purchased for the African American
History Museum
e Grants are in the works from the Association of Africans Americans Museum,
National Cultural Historic Foundation, and Kellogg Foundation
e Advisory Board, the right mix of people are needed for the right history, and
materials, which some have been donated
¢ The museum is not an MLK/CIA project and a leader hasn’t been chosen
e The Doctors office on Prospect St. next to the old Advance Auto building, has
been secured for possible meeting spaces
© A “Health Care Access Point” on the Southside of Jackson is in the works.
MLK commissioners will be meeting with the CEO of Henry Ford, Jarred, Sara
Bennedetto, Center for Family Health, and Jackie, Department of Health and
Human Services
e John will let REC know if and how we can support this initiative

@ 10/15 a Forum for candidates running for the following positions, Judge,
mayor, and Treasurer
e¢ 9/23 David mentioned a candidate forum held at the County Building,
organized by the League of Women Voters
© 9/13 Sickle Cell Walk-a-thon, MLK trail
¢ Motion by Shaquay Selby and supported by David Hammontree for REC to
donate $125 for 100% juice, for the Sickle Cell Walk-a-thon motion carried
e 9/10 Racing for Equity book discussion at Carnegie library 6:00-8:00 pm
e Waiting for a meeting to take place with Jackson College Executive Board
Staff, regarding complaints from an Executive Board member. A request has
been made that the meeting not take place at Jackson College, as there are
concerns about the environment

e AResolution was signed by the board at our August meeting, to sell the 40
scattered houses connected to Chalet and Shahan. This request was made
by HUD. Funds from houses sold will pay towards the $4M JHC owes HUD
e Still waiting on the Insurance company to decide regarding the recently
burned building, should we rebuild or take down
« Tenants who were burned out received 2 opportunities to retrieve their
belongings
F. CPOC
e 9/10 meeting at Boo Center for Wards 2 & 3
e Final traveling meeting will take place November 12 at MLK
e Traveling meetings have resulted in more people attending

e Lenawee housing conference takes place 10/29, location to be determined

up) rounding out the Summer calendar of events
