Credit to the Seligman for Colorado Attorney General campaign, via @designedfordemocracy, for putting ALPR surveillance into a race most voters never think to connect to Flock cameras. AG contests usually get decided on culture-war talking points, but the office actually controls whether local police and vendors like Flock get held to constitutional warrant standards or get a free pass to build biometric dragnets with zero oversight.

That's the real story here: Flock isn't just a camera company, it's a data-sharing network that quietly links thousands of local police departments together, often with no public vote and no warrant requirement before an officer runs your plate history. An AG willing to enforce existing search-and-seizure law against both cops and the tech vendors who profit from lax rules is a bigger lever than most city council debates. Whoever holds that office decides if 'follow the law' is an actual enforcement priority or just a campaign line.
