Flock & ALPR Cameras in Kingston, Tennessee
Volunteers have reported 12 automated license plate readers in and around Kingston — cameras that log every passing plate with a time and location.
On the record · Contract Canceled
Kingston is on the record here. The City of Kingston will not renew its Flock Safety contract when the two-year 2024 deal expires in September 2026, the Mountain Press / Roane County News reported August 19. City Manager David Bolling said the two cameras were a trial and that the benefit did not justify the cost. Mayor Tim Neal said the decision is financial: about $6,000 a year, $12,300 for the two-year term.

What’s watching Kingston
These aren’t red-light cameras. Automated license plate readers like Flock Safety’s photograph every plate that passes, log the time and place, and store it in a searchable database that’s often shared far beyond Kingston — here’s where that data goes. Counts cover cameras reported closest to Kingston (within ~20 km), so nearby towns share the same corridors. Spot one that’s missing? Report it on DeFlock.
