On the record · Contract Canceled
Winston is on the record here. Winston Police Chief Brandon Sarti told City Council on August 17, 2026 that the department had canceled its Flock contract that day. NR Today reported eight cameras in Douglas County at about $24,000 a year, amid $215,000 in department budget cuts. Sarti said the lieutenant’s retirement plus the cancel should save about $217,000, and that if residents paying the bill do not want the cameras, the city is turning them off. Council also killed proposed Resolution 26-1237, an ODOT intergovernmental agreement that would have allowed ALPRs on Oregon Route 42. Mayor Christie Knutson said community outcry was part of the removal.
