Ypsilanti is on the record here. The Ypsilanti City Council gave final passage to Ordinance No. 1401 on September 13, 2022 by a 5-0 vote, prohibiting automated license plate readers inside the city limits. Council members cited privacy, and noted that any future police use would require amending the ordinance. It was among the first outright municipal ALPR bans in Michigan.
