Monerotopia, "E-files", and Leonardo
The short version: Business Reform's livestream ties Monero privacy to Flock's rough week, including a reported Amazon split and Indiana's new ban on HOA-run ALPRs.
Our Take
Credit to Business Reform for connecting dots that mainstream coverage usually keeps separate: financial surveillance, mass camera networks, and the government's long track record of failing to protect the people it claims these tools are for. The Monero discussion is really a privacy thought experiment — if you don't trust centralized systems to safeguard your location data, why would you trust them with your spending habits? Same logic, different ledger.
The more immediately useful nuggets here are the Flock items. A reported loss of an Amazon partnership and Indiana lawmakers moving to bar homeowners associations from installing or operating ALPRs are exactly the kind of incremental wins this movement needs. HOAs have been a quiet backdoor for ALPR expansion in neighborhoods with zero public hearing process — residents wake up to a camera on a pole because a board voted on it in a closed meeting. Indiana drawing a line around that is a real precedent other states should be watching.
None of this stops the broader rollout, but it shows the legal and reputational pressure is starting to add up. If you want to see what's already been installed near you, check our camera map, and if you're in a state considering similar HOA or municipal restrictions, our take-action page has what you need to get involved.
