Flock's CEO Garrett Langley Is An Absolute Moron!
The short version: A YouTuber blasts Flock CEO Garrett Langley for griping about his own privacy while his company sells blanket license-plate tracking to anyone with a badge.
Our Take
Credit to CrasherTalks&More for pointing out the obvious irony here: the man running a nationwide license-plate surveillance network apparently doesn't love it when the spotlight turns on him. That's not a gotcha, that's the whole business model laid bare — Flock Safety profits by normalizing the idea that your movements are public data for the taking, right up until it's the CEO's own life under the microscope.
We don't know the specifics of what prompted Langley's reaction, and we're not going to pretend we do. But the double standard writes itself: privacy is framed as a luxury for executives and law enforcement, while everyday drivers get logged, timestamped, and stored in a database they never consented to and can't opt out of. That asymmetry is the core problem with ALPR networks — the people deploying the cameras get to control their own exposure while the public does not.
If this kind of hypocrisy bothers you, it should. Check our camera map to see how far this surveillance net already reaches in your area, and hit take action for ways to push back at the local level.
