Credit to Rebuild with Ryan for putting into everyday terms what we've been saying for a while: the line between "routine driving" and "being tracked" has basically disappeared. Flock Safety and its competitors have quietly wired thousands of intersections, cul-de-sacs, and gas station exits with cameras that log your plate, time, and location every time you pass — no warrant, no suspicion, no opt-out.
What makes this creep so effective is exactly what the video seems to be getting at: it doesn't feel like surveillance because there's no checkpoint, no officer, no obvious moment of being watched. It's just cameras bolted to poles, feeding a searchable database that police departments, HOAs, and increasingly private companies can query. String enough of those reads together and you get a detailed travel history on any driver, guilty of nothing, over weeks or months.
