House of Trends is out with a video claiming Governor DeSantis signed an executive order banning Flock Safety cameras statewide and giving agencies 30 days to pull them down. That would be huge news if true — Florida has some of the densest Flock deployments in the country. But we haven't found a corresponding executive order, state agency notice, or mainstream reporting confirming this. Until there's a primary source — the actual order, a state press release, or agency memos — we're treating this as unverified, not fact.

We get why this story is catching fire. People are hungry for a win against ALPR sprawl, and the idea of a governor slamming the brakes on Flock taps into real, justified anger about data retention, mission creep, and warrantless tracking of everyday drivers. That anger is earned. Departments have quietly signed up for Flock networks with little public debate, and the data-sharing arrangements between agencies (and sometimes with federal partners) deserve way more scrutiny than they get.
