Flock or deflock -

Peanut n Ace · 2 months ago

The short version: A creator called Peanut n Ace weighs in on the Flock-or-deflock debate, and the framing alone says a lot about how mainstream this fight has become.

Our Take

When a channel with a name as low-key as Peanut n Ace is putting "Flock or deflock" in a title, you know the conversation around automated license plate readers has leaked well past policy wonks and privacy nerds. That's a good thing. The more ordinary people are asking whether a camera on their street is logging their every drive to work, church, or the pharmacy, the harder it gets for police departments and city councils to wave off the question with a shrug and a press release.

We don't have the full transcript in front of us, so we'll let the video speak for itself rather than put words in the creator's mouth. But the title alone captures the binary a lot of towns are facing right now: either you let Flock Safety's network quietly become permanent infrastructure, or residents start organizing to push back before it does. There's not much of a middle lane once hundreds of these cameras are bolted up and feeding a searchable database.

If this video has you wondering whether your own neighborhood is already wired up, check our camera map and see what's nearby. And if you're ready to do more than wonder, our take-action page has concrete steps for showing up at a council meeting and actually changing the vote.
