Beverly Hills Crime Drop: ALPR & Drone Tech Success #shorts

Your LEO Nation · 1 month ago

The short version: A police-boosting channel touts Beverly Hills crime stats from ALPRs and drones without showing the data, audits, or privacy tradeoffs behind the numbers.

Our Take

"Your LEO Nation" packs a lot into a 34% crime drop and 22% arrest bump, but a 60-second clip isn't an audit. We don't know the time frame, the baseline, what counts as "crime," or whether other factors (staffing, seasonal trends, unrelated initiatives) moved those numbers too. Police departments love citing ALPR wins; they're far less eager to publish raw read logs, retention schedules, or who else can query the database.

That's the pattern with Flock-style surveillance nationwide: impressive-sounding stats, thin methodology, and almost no public accounting of how many innocent drivers get scanned, flagged, or misidentified along the way. Beverly Hills residents deserve the underlying data, not just a highlight reel engineered for police recruiting content.

If you want to see how far this camera network already reaches in your own neighborhood, check our map, and if you'd rather push back than just watch the numbers roll in, our take-action page has concrete steps.
