How Flock Cameras Help Jersey Village Police and Neighborhoods Solve Crime
The short version: Flock's own channel reposts a local news segment praising Jersey Village PD's camera network, but the piece is marketing dressed up as journalism.
Our Take
Notice who's publishing this "news" story: Flock Safety itself, not an independent outlet doing a skeptical review. That's a pattern we see constantly — a local TV segment airs with police and company talking points about solved crimes, then the vendor repackages it as proof of product value. It's a closed loop of promotion, not accountability journalism.
What's missing, as always, is the other side of the ledger: how many plates get scanned to produce these success stories, how long Jersey Village keeps the data, who else can query it, and whether the department tracks false hits or misuse. "It helped solve a crime" is a low bar when the real question is whether a town's streets should be wired with networked cameras logging every car that passes, indefinitely, with little public oversight.
If you want to see whether Jersey Village or your own neighborhood is on the grid, check our camera map, and if you'd rather your city debate this in public instead of via a company's highlight reel, our take-action page has tools to push for real transparency.
