Flock CONTACTED Me After My Coverage of Their Company

Americas Better Future Network · 2 months ago

The short version: Flock allegedly reached out through a back channel after a creator's critical coverage, raising fresh questions about how the company responds to scrutiny.

Our Take

America's Better Future Network is reporting that Flock Safety contacted them indirectly — through a friend — after publishing critical coverage of the company's ALPR network. We can't verify the specifics of that outreach, but the pattern itself is worth sitting with: a company whose cameras quietly log the movements of millions of Americans reacting to press scrutiny by going around the front door rather than through it.

This matters because Flock has spent years building a surveillance apparatus with remarkably little public accountability. Thousands of these cameras are already running in neighborhoods, HOAs, and small-town police lots across the country, often installed with minimal public debate and almost no transparency about who gets access to the data or how long it's kept. When a company that operates at that scale starts personally reaching out to creators covering it critically, that's a story in itself, regardless of what was actually said.

If you want to see how close this surveillance is to your own front door, check our camera map, and if you're ready to push back on a local installation, our take-action resources walk through how to do it.
