Flock Safety Cameras: Surveillance or Safety? #shorts

STS Technologies LLC · 2 weeks ago

The short version: A vendor-made short asks 'surveillance or safety?' about Flock cameras — a fair question, but remember they're also selling anti-ALPR gear.

Our Take

STS Technologies LLC, the outfit behind the FlockYou line of ALPR-awareness products, dropped a quick short asking the question we ask every day: are these cameras keeping you safe, or just keeping tabs on you? Credit where it's due — getting that question in front of casual YouTube scrollers in under a minute is no small feat, and the more people who even pause to consider it, the better.

That said, it's worth remembering the source. STS has a product to sell, so a video that frames Flock cameras as a binary 'safety vs. surveillance' choice is also, functionally, an ad. The real answer is messier: these systems log your location every time you drive past one, whether or not you're suspected of anything, and that data gets stored, shared, and sometimes misused — regardless of whether a company has merch for it.

If this short got you curious about how far this network actually reaches, skip the sales pitch and go look for yourself. Check our camera map to see what's near you, and if you want to push back on a deployment in your town, our take-action guide has concrete steps that don't require buying anything.
