There's a rich irony in a company that makes billions selling automated eyes on every street corner apparently not wanting any eyes on its own front door. The creator behind Flock Off did the legwork the company itself won't invite: walking up to Flock Safety's Atlanta headquarters and a second facility, both scrubbed of any signage identifying who's inside. Credit where it's due — this is the kind of shoe-leather transparency reporting that actual journalists and watchdogs should be doing more of when a surveillance vendor this size operates with so little public accountability.

This matters because Flock isn't some quiet SaaS startup. It's a company whose cameras read plates on millions of cars a day, feeding data into a nationwide network that police departments, HOAs, and now even private actors can tap into. A company that builds its business on tracking the movements of ordinary people ought to be able to handle having its own building photographed. The instinct to stay unmarked and low-profile says something about how the company would prefer to operate: everywhere, but never quite accountable, never quite visible.
