πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί MareArts ANPR LPR license plate detection and recognition for EU countries #alpr #lpr #anpr

The short version: MareArts shows off its EU license-plate-recognition engine, a reminder that the same computer-vision tech behind Flock's cameras is a commodity product sold worldwide.

Our Take

This isn't a Flock Safety video, but it's worth watching anyway. MareArts, a computer vision vendor, is showing off how easily its ANPR/LPR software reads and recognizes license plates across EU countries on a public demo page. Credit to the MareArts channel for putting the tech on display so plainly β€” it's a useful window into how mundane and commoditized this stuff has become.

That's exactly the point we keep hammering on: license plate recognition isn't some exotic capability locked inside a single company's black box. It's off-the-shelf code that any government, private company, or landlord can bolt onto a camera and start building a database of who drove where and when. Flock Safety didn't invent this technology β€” it packaged it, marketed it to police departments and HOAs, and built a nationwide network out of it. Demos like this one show how low the barrier to entry really is, which should worry anyone who thinks ALPR surveillance is a niche problem that will stay contained.

If you want to see how far that network has already spread in your own neighborhood, check out our camera map, and if you're ready to push back on a camera near you, our take-action page has concrete steps.
