You’re Already in the Grid: How Your Data Connects Everything
The short version: DiventionTechnologies' video maps how cameras, apps, and data centers quietly interlink into one surveillance grid — and ALPRs are a core node in that web.
Our Take
DiventionTechnologies lays out something we've been saying for years: no single camera or app is the real threat — it's the grid they all plug into. A license plate reader on your street doesn't just sit there logging plates; that data gets networked, stored, and cross-referenced with other systems, often without your knowledge or consent. The video's point about staying aware of what's collecting your information and asking hard questions about where it goes is exactly the mindset this fight requires.
Flock Safety and similar ALPR networks are a textbook example of this "grid" in action. Thousands of cameras feeding a searchable database that police departments, HOAs, and sometimes private companies can query — that's not isolated surveillance, that's infrastructure. And infrastructure, once built, rarely shrinks. It expands, adds partners, and finds new justifications for existing.
Credit to DiventionTechnologies for zooming out and connecting the dots between devices most people think of as separate. We'd add one thing: awareness is step one, but mapping and challenging the actual hardware is step two.
