AI Wins: Flock Cameras & Trump's New Helipad
The short version: Liberty Nation News lumps Flock's ALPR network in with a helipad upgrade as an unambiguous 'AI win,' glossing over the surveillance trade-offs.
Our Take
Liberty Nation News frames Flock Safety cameras as just another feel-good AI success story, filed right next to a helipad renovation. That framing is the problem. A helipad doesn't log every car that passes it, build a searchable travel history on millions of people, or hand that data to a network of agencies with little public oversight. Flock's ALPR system does exactly that, and treating it as a harmless convenience win skips the actual debate.
"Law enforcement tool" is doing a lot of work in that description. Sure, Flock cameras can help solve crimes — but they also create a permanent, searchable record of where innocent people drive, park, and live their lives, often without local residents ever voting on whether they wanted that infrastructure in their neighborhood. Calling that an unqualified AI "win" is a choice, not a fact.
We'd rather people see where this hardware actually is before deciding how they feel about it. Check our camera map to find Flock deployments near you, and if you want to push back on unchecked expansion, our take-action page has concrete steps for your city council meeting.
