Don't Be A Turkey, Flock Off!
The short version: Mass United's holiday-themed video pokes fun at suburban complacency, reminding folks that quiet streets aren't immune to Flock's camera network.
Our Take
Credit to Mass United for finding a clever, seasonally-appropriate way to make a serious point: the assumption that ALPR surveillance is a "big city problem" is dead wrong. Flock Safety's pitch to small towns and suburban HOAs is exactly why the network has exploded to thousands of communities that never had a public debate about whether they wanted a permanent record of every car that passes through. The "turkey" framing is a little silly, sure, but the underlying message isn't: complacency is how this technology spreads unchecked.
What makes suburban and exurban deployments particularly worth watching is the lack of scrutiny. City councils in small jurisdictions often approve these contracts with minimal public input, treating ALPRs as an uncontroversial crime-fighting tool rather than a mass-surveillance system that logs the movements of everyone, not just suspects. The data gets pooled, shared across jurisdictions, and can sit around far longer than most residents realize.
