Zoomers Are Destroying Flock Cameras Everywhere

The Kyle Anzalone Show · 3 months ago

The short version: Kyle Anzalone's video on viral Flock camera sabotage shows Gen Z's growing anger at ALPR surveillance, but documenting and opting out beats vandalism.

Our Take

Kyle Anzalone's channel is picking up on something real: a lot of young people are furious that a private company has quietly wired their towns with cameras that log every car that passes, timestamped and searchable by police departments nationwide. The videos of cameras getting knocked down or spray-painted aren't really about the hardware — they're a crude signal that communities were never meaningfully asked whether they wanted this surveillance net in the first place.

We get the frustration, but torching a pole doesn't solve the problem — Flock just sends a replacement and bills the city again, and the data-sharing agreements, retention policies, and lack of oversight remain untouched. The more durable fight is making these systems visible and accountable: knowing exactly where the cameras are, who's paying for them, and how often that data gets passed to ICE, bounty hunters, or out-of-state agencies chasing abortion or immigration cases.

If this video got you curious about what's actually watching your street, check our camera map to see what's already deployed near you, and use our take-action page to push your city council for transparency instead of waiting for someone to bring a sledgehammer.
