deflock.org is a website that shows you where all flock cameras are in your region. #flockcamera
The short version: A short video spotlights deflock.org's crowdsourced map of Flock Safety ALPR cameras, underscoring how community mapping exposes the scale of automated surveillance.
Our Take
Credit to Flameworkclerk for putting a spotlight on something we think everyone should know exists: a public, crowdsourced map of Flock Safety license plate readers. Most people have no idea how many of these cameras are bolted to poles in their own neighborhood, quietly logging every car that passes, until someone shows them a map dotted with pins.
That's the real power of this kind of tool. Flock markets its system to city councils as a quiet, behind-the-scenes crime-fighting asset, but the scale only becomes obvious when you can see hundreds of cameras plotted across a metro area, often installed with little public debate or oversight. Mapping projects turn an abstract privacy concern into something concrete people can see and react to.
We built our own camera map for the same reason: transparency is the first step toward accountability. If you want to push back on ALPR expansion in your own town, start by finding out what's already watching you, then check our take-action page for ways to push your local officials on policy, retention, and oversight.
