Flock Cameras are Good - apparently…
The short version: Gary Sue's sarcastically titled video pokes at the 'Flock cameras are good' narrative, and we think the skepticism is earned.
Our Take
That title alone — "Flock Cameras are Good - apparently…" — tells you everything about the tone here. Gary Sue is clearly side-eyeing the talking points that police departments and Flock Safety sales reps love to repeat: that blanketing a town in license plate readers is just common-sense crime fighting, no downsides, nothing to see here. We appreciate any creator willing to push back on that script instead of just repeating it.
The thing is, "it helped solve a case" is a low bar for justifying a surveillance network that logs every car, every driver, every day, whether or not anyone's suspected of anything. That's the part the marketing conveniently skips: the data doesn't just help catch the one bad guy, it builds a permanent movement record on everyone else too. Our own camera map shows just how fast that network has spread into ordinary neighborhoods with zero public debate.
Credit to Gary Sue for using a little sarcasm to get people questioning the 'Flock is harmless' line — that's exactly the kind of skepticism this fight needs more of. If this video gets you asking where these cameras are near you, our take-action page is a good next stop.
