Master Roshi Would NOT Approve of Flock

Average Intelligence Productions · 2 weeks ago

The short version: A comedic take from Average Intelligence Productions uses a Dragon Ball joke to spotlight how absurd and invasive Flock Safety's camera network has become.

Our Take

Credit where it's due: Average Intelligence Productions found a funny way into a serious subject. Invoking Master Roshi — a cartoon old man who famously peeps where he shouldn't — to describe a nationwide network of government-adjacent cameras tracking your car's every move is the kind of joke that lands because it's basically accurate. Flock Safety's ALPR system doesn't care about probable cause or a warrant; it just watches, logs, and stores.

That's the part that should stick with viewers after the laugh. These aren't speed traps or red-light cameras aimed at catching a specific violation — they're blanket surveillance infrastructure, quietly installed in thousands of towns, building a searchable database of where everyone drives, when, and how often. Comedy is a fine entry point, but the underlying reality is that most residents have no idea how much of their movement is already being logged a few blocks from their house.

If this video made you wonder whether Flock cameras are watching your own street, check our camera map to find out, and head to our take-action page if you want to push back on your local city council before the next contract renewal.
