Just A Guy Reacts: Flock Off — Cameras on Every Corner

Full Armour Media Group · 2 months ago

The short version: Jim Miller's reaction video pushes back on Flock's TED-stage pitch, asking who watches the watchers when a camera sits on every corner.

Our Take

Garrett Langley loves to frame Flock Safety's expansion as a moral mission — 'safety is a right' — but as Just A Guy Jim Miller points out in his reaction (Full Armour Media Group), that pitch conveniently skips the part where billions of plate scans get stored, shared, and searched with almost no public oversight. A TED stage is a great place to sell a vision. It's a terrible place to answer hard questions about retention windows, data sharing agreements, or what happens when a hot-list matches an innocent driver.

The '21 minutes to an arrest' anecdotes are real, but they're also marketing. What doesn't make the highlight reel is the everyday reality: a nationwide grid quietly logging where you drive, when, and how often, built by a private company with police departments as customers and very little independent audit. Miller's skepticism cuts to the core issue we keep raising — infrastructure built for convenience today becomes infrastructure for control tomorrow, and once it's on every corner, it's not coming down easily.
