We need to deflock because no American wants to live with Big Brother watching. #flock #alrp #

The short version: A short-form creator's blunt warning against Flock Safety's ALPR network echoes a growing public instinct: this isn't the surveillance state Americans signed up for.

Our Take

Credit to Augusta Zawacki for putting it plainly in a format most political commentary avoids: no American asked to live under a camera network that logs every car, every trip, every pattern of life, and hands that data to police departments and corporations with little oversight. The clip is short, but the instinct behind it is exactly right. Flock Safety didn't win a public debate about whether this technology should exist — it just got installed, quietly, intersection by intersection, until entire counties were wired without a real vote.

That's the core problem DeFlock exists to document. These aren't speed cameras or red-light cameras with a narrow job. ALPRs build a searchable, retroactive map of where you've been, and once that infrastructure exists, it gets repurposed — for immigration enforcement, for out-of-state abortion investigations, for whatever the next political moment demands. 'Trust us' isn't a policy, and most residents never got asked whether they wanted to be in this dataset in the first place.

If this video got you thinking about the cameras in your own town, don't stop at the feeling — act on it. Check our map to see what's already been deployed near you, and use our take-action page to push back at the local level, where these decisions actually get made.
