Flock cameras in Ohio are violating our civil liberties. #acluohio #privacy #flock #surveillance

The short version: ACLU Ohio's short video calls Flock ALPR dragnet surveillance a civil liberties violation, echoing what we've been saying since day one.

Our Take

When a heavyweight like ACLU Ohio starts posting short-form content with the hashtag #gettheflockOUT, it's a sign this issue has moved from niche privacy-advocate concern to mainstream civil liberties fight. Their take is simple and correct: a network of cameras logging every car that passes, searchable by police without a warrant, is the definition of dragnet surveillance — and it doesn't stop being dragnet surveillance just because the company doing it has a friendly name.

We appreciate ACLU Ohio putting their institutional weight behind calling this what it is. Too often these systems get waved through city councils as a 'crime-fighting tool' with zero debate about retention periods, audit logs, or who else gets access to that data down the line — ICE, bounty hunters, an ex with a badge. Ohio residents deserve to know exactly how many of these cameras are already watching their commute.
