Flock Cameras..a bird in the airmay carry your voice.
The short version: Creator Basic Training takes a cryptic, almost poetic jab at Flock Safety's camera network — a reminder that this surveillance is everywhere, even when it's barely explained.
Our Take
Basic Training's video keeps it minimal — just a title, a wink, and the word "flock" — but sometimes that's all it takes to make the point. These cameras have become so normalized, so quietly embedded into intersections and neighborhoods across the country, that even a glancing reference lands. You don't need a deep investigative piece to feel the unease; you just need to know the cameras are there, watching, logging, and sharing.
That's really the heart of the problem with ALPR networks like Flock's: most people have no idea how extensive this data collection has become until someone points a camera at the cameras, so to speak. Every plate read, timestamped and geotagged, builds a picture of where you've been and when — all without a warrant, and often without your city council ever holding a real public debate about it.
We credit Basic Training for putting this on more people's radar, even in a short, stylized way. If this clip makes you wonder what's watching your own street, check our camera map to see what's nearby, and visit our take-action page to push back where you live.
