I Caught the D.A. Lying About Flock Cameras… (Receipts Included) #Shorts
The short version: A YouTuber says a Wisconsin DA downplayed Flock camera capabilities to the public, highlighting how officials often sell ALPR systems with half-truths.
Our Take
Credit to Sonata Muzik TV for digging up the receipts on Manitowoc County DA Jacalyn LaBre, who reportedly told local news that Flock cameras are "just a stationary" device — a framing that conveniently leaves out everything these systems actually do: capture every plate, timestamp, GPS location, vehicle make/color, and feed it into a searchable, networked database shared across agencies and sometimes states.
This is the pattern we see again and again. Officials sell Flock to the public as a glorified traffic camera, not the mass surveillance dragnet it really is, because the honest pitch is a much harder sell. When a DA — someone whose job depends on public trust in the justice system — minimizes what these cameras do, that's not a technicality, that's a credibility problem. People deserve accurate information before their movements get logged by a private company's hardware bolted to a pole in their own neighborhood.
If you want to see how many of these cameras are already watching your commute, check our camera map, and if you want to push back on your local government's Flock contract, our take-action page has the tools to start.
