Darth Vader Wants MORE Flock Cameras! (LOL)

JP Reacts · 1 month ago

The short version: A comedy reaction video mocks Flock's expanding camera network, but the joke underscores a real and growing surveillance problem across American towns.

Our Take

JP Reacts is clearly having fun here — Darth Vader jokes and a supplement sponsor aside, the punchline lands because it's true: Flock Safety cameras really are multiplying, quietly, in places people never voted on. When a comedy channel can get laughs just by pointing a camera at the absurdity of "more surveillance, please," that tells you something about how normalized ALPR creep has become.

We don't know the full script, and we're not going to pretend we do, but the setup alone is worth sitting with. Darth Vader wanting more cameras isn't really a joke about Star Wars — it's a joke about power consolidating itself one license plate scan at a time, dressed up as public safety. Credit to JP for making that point land through humor instead of a lecture.

If the bit left you wondering just how many of these cameras are already watching your own street, stop wondering and go look. Check our camera map to see what's been deployed near you, and if you don't like what you find, our take-action page has concrete steps for pushing back at the city council level.
