The short version: A Prescott, Arizona study session on ALPRs drew public pushback, and Jen's Two Cents captured residents making their case directly to the council.

Our Take

Credit to Jen's Two Cents (Jen & Friends Podcast) for showing up to a city council meeting most outlets wouldn't bother covering. An hour-long study session on automated license plate readers followed by residents using their public comment time to push back is exactly the kind of local accountability moment that gets lost in the news cycle — until someone with a camera and a YouTube channel decides it's worth preserving.

This is how ALPR expansion actually happens in America: not through some dramatic federal debate, but through study sessions in city halls where a handful of residents are often the only pushback a council hears before voting to approve a Flock Safety contract. Two people speaking up in Prescott won't stop a rollout on its own, but public comment is on the record, and it forces council members to at least hear the counterargument before they rubber-stamp a surveillance network that logs every car that passes through town.

If Prescott is moving toward Flock cameras, residents deserve to know where the lenses already are and where more are likely headed — check our camera map to see what's been documented near you, and if you want to push back like the folks in this video did, our take-action page has the tools to help you make your voice heard at the next council meeting.
