🚨 KEEP FLOCK ON THE RUN 🚨 MARCH ON GRASS VALLEY CITY HALL TOMORROW 6PM (8/11)
The short version: BaptainsCupboard spotlights a grassroots march on Grass Valley City Hall, showing local pressure campaigns against Flock Safety ALPRs are spreading beyond big cities.
Our Take
Credit to BaptainsCupboard for doing what too few outlets bother with anymore: pointing a camera at ordinary people organizing in real life. A march on a small-city hall over license plate readers isn't a viral moment, it's democracy at the scale where it actually works — city councils respond to the people who show up, not the ones who just tweet about it.
Grass Valley is a reminder that this fight isn't confined to major metros with ACLU chapters and press corps. Flock's network has quietly crept into towns of every size, and the people noticing first are usually the ones living under the cameras, not the officials who approved the contracts. Whether this particular march moves the council is almost secondary to the fact that it happened at all — public pressure is still the most reliable check we have on quiet surveillance expansion.
If you want to know whether your own town already has Flock cameras watching your plates, check the map, and if you're ready to push back locally, our take-action page has the tools to help you organize your own version of Grass Valley's showing.
