Credit to Rebel Podcast for putting Flock Safety in front of an audience that may be hearing about automated license plate readers for the first time. That's half the battle. Most people have no idea these camera poles quietly logging every car that passes are strung together into a nationwide, searchable network that any participating agency can query — often with little local debate before installation.

Where we'd push back on the video's even-handed "you decide" framing is this: the decision has largely already been made for most communities, and it was made behind closed doors between city councils and a private vendor. The real debate isn't whether license plate cameras can theoretically help solve a crime — it's who audits the searches, how long the data sits in a database, which outside agencies get access, and what happens when that data is misused or breached. Those questions rarely get resolved before the cameras go up, which is exactly why local pushback matters.
