Credit to Daily Insight for cutting through the doublespeak: calling mass biometric surveillance a "humanitarian mission" or a boost to "freedom" is the same rhetorical trick we hear every time a city council debates Flock cameras. Swap "facial recognition van" for "ALPR network" and the playbook is identical — frame constant tracking of the public as a favor to the public, then quietly expand the watchlist criteria once nobody's paying attention.
The tell in this video is the same tell we see in Flock's own marketing: once you build the dragnet, the justification always drifts. First it's finding dementia patients, then it's catching people who dared wear sunglasses or a mask in public — behavior that used to be normal, not suspicious. That's mission creep by design, and it works the same whether the sensor reads faces or plates. Western Australia may be the test case in this video, but the infrastructure being normalized there is the same infrastructure quietly spreading across American towns block by block.
