A pitch built around catching addiction-fueled crime or recovering missing funds sounds reasonable in a thirty-second clip, but it glosses over the fact that the same network logs everyone's movements, not just the suspects departments are chasing.
Once a city says yes to that pitch, the data doesn't stay narrowly scoped. It gets pooled into a national lookup system, shared across agencies with little public oversight, and retained on timelines most residents never see or vote on. The "it caught a bad guy" anecdote is doing a lot of work to justify a tool that quietly tracks the other 99.9% of drivers who did nothing wrong.
