Flock wants to eradicate crime. The only way to fully do that is pre-crime.

The short version: Verified Privacy VPN's Hide & Speak clip argues Flock's 'eradicate crime' mission logically ends in predictive, pre-crime surveillance built on networked ALPR data.

Our Take

The folks at Verified Privacy VPN land on the point we keep hammering: the danger was never the single camera bolted to a pole at the end of your street. It's the network. One Flock unit reading plates is a data point. Thousands of them talking to each other, cross-referenced with other agencies' feeds, is a surveillance grid that can reconstruct anyone's movements over weeks or months without a warrant.

Their framing of Flock's own marketing language is the sharp part. A company that says its mission is to "eradicate crime" isn't describing a tool for solving crimes after they happen — it's describing an ambition to stop crime before it starts. That only works through prediction, which only works through constant behavioral tracking of everyone, guilty or not. That's not hyperbole, it's just what the stated goal requires once you follow it to its logical end.

This is exactly why we built the map — so you can see how far that grid already reaches in your own town, not just take a company's mission statement at face value. If you're ready to push back on a camera near you, our take-action page has the steps to start.
