FLOCK IS TERRIFIED of DEFLOCK BEAR: flock ceo garrett “SPECIAL K” langley response to us

The short version: A creator says Flock's CEO fired back at grassroots ALPR pushback, which only proves the public scrutiny is landing.

Our Take

Credit where it's due: BaptainsCupboard is doing the unglamorous work of tracking how Flock Safety's leadership responds when regular people start asking hard questions about license plate readers in their towns. We haven't independently verified every claim in Garrett Langley's reaction, so we're not going to repeat it as gospel — but the broader pattern is worth sitting with. When a company that runs a billion-dollar surveillance network starts publicly sparring with citizen watchdogs days after a grassroots campaign, that's not a sign of confidence. It's a sign the pressure is working.

This is exactly why independent documentation matters more than corporate messaging. Flock controls the narrative in press releases and sales pitches to police departments; it doesn't control what residents see when they look up and find a camera on their street that nobody voted on. The more people who show up to city council meetings, file public records requests, and just point a camera back at the cameras, the harder it gets for any CEO to spin the story.
