Help DeFlock

Mak-Tube · 1 month ago

The short version: A short news clip from Mak-Tube spotlights DeFlock's mission, and even a quick mention helps more people learn their neighborhoods are being watched.

Our Take

Credit where it's due: Mak-Tube put DeFlock in front of a news-shorts audience that might never have heard the word "ALPR" otherwise. We don't have the full script, but the title says it plainly — help DeFlock. That's the whole point of this project: it only works if more eyes are watching the cameras than cameras are watching us.

Short-form news clips like this matter more than people assume. Most Americans still don't know that a Flock Safety camera on their street is logging their plate, timestamp, and direction of travel every time they drive past, feeding a searchable database that police departments and sometimes private companies can query. A 30-second video that sends even a few hundred people looking for "Flock camera near me" is doing real work.

If this clip sent you here, don't stop at curiosity. Check our map to see what's logging your own street, and head to take-action for concrete steps — public records requests, city council talking points, and ways to report cameras we haven't mapped yet.

This is DeFlock The USA’s original commentary. The video above is the work of Mak-Tube, published on YouTube — full credit to the creator.
