Smarter Parking with KEYGON LPR System π | Intelligent License Plate Recognition
The short version: A vendor demo for Keygon's LPR 'smart parking' gear shows how plate-scanning cameras are being sold as routine infrastructure, not security tools.
Our Take
Keygon Alice's promo video is pitched as a parking convenience story, but strip away the marketing gloss and it's the same pitch we see from every ALPR vendor: cameras that log every plate that passes, sold as a smart, frictionless upgrade. Parking lots are quietly becoming one of the most overlooked surveillance chokepoints in American life β every grocery run, doctor's visit, or protest you attend on foot from a parking spot gets tagged to your plate and, by extension, to you.
What these videos never mention is where that data goes after the gate opens. Is it stored, sold, or shared with law enforcement or a nationwide network? Vendors rarely say, and property owners rarely ask. That's exactly how plate-reading tech has spread from highways and HOAs into shopping centers and garages with almost no public debate or oversight.
If you want to see how far this infrastructure has already crept into your own neighborhood, check our camera map, and if you're ready to push back on unchecked plate surveillance where you live, visit our take-action page.
