Whether it's Trump, a governor, or your local city council, an endorsement doesn't change what a network of automated license plate readers actually does — log every car that passes, timestamp it, and hand that history to whoever has database access, cop or otherwise. Partisan branding is a distraction from the actual civil liberties question.
That's the real value of a cartoon like this: it refuses to let the surveillance debate get swallowed by tribal politics. Flock's pitch works precisely because it's been sold to both red and blue jurisdictions as 'just solving crime,' which means opposition has to be bigger than any one administration's stamp of approval.
