This isn't a Flock Safety video, but it's worth watching precisely because it shows how normalized automated license plate recognition has become. Keygon is pitching its barrier gate the same way garage door companies used to pitch remotes: convenient, efficient, hands-free. What used to be a niche law enforcement tool is now a checkout-cart item for HOAs, apartment complexes, and parking operators who may never think twice about where the plate data goes, how long it's retained, or who else can query it.
That's the real story behind these marketing reels. Every new vendor entering the ALPR space adds another node to a sprawling, poorly regulated patchwork of camera systems capturing Americans' movements, often with no public oversight, no retention limits, and no guarantee the data stays local. A gate camera outside your apartment complex can end up feeding a national plate-lookup network you never consented to and never knew existed.
We give Keygon credit for at least being upfront about what its hardware does.
