Stop Google From Tracking You With This One Setting (30 Seconds). #GooglePrivacy #PrivacyTips
The short version: Mading Thok's quick Google privacy fix is a solid 30-second win, but it won't stop the license plate readers watching your car on public roads.
Our Take
Credit where it's due: Mading Thok's walkthrough on killing Google's Web Activity, Location, and YouTube History logs is a legit quick win. Thirty seconds in your account settings genuinely reduces how much of your digital life gets stockpiled for ad targeting and who-knows-what-else. If you haven't done it, do it.
But here's the catch that doesn't fit in a 30-second video: turning off Google's trackers does nothing about the cameras bolted to poles and traffic signs reading your license plate every time you leave the driveway. Flock Safety and similar ALPR networks log your plate, location, and timestamp regardless of your phone settings, your browser, or your VPN. You can go full privacy-hermit on your Google account and still end up in a database that police departments, HOAs, and sometimes private companies query without a warrant.
Digital hygiene and physical surveillance awareness have to go hand in hand now. Check our camera map to see what's tracking you on the roads you actually drive, and hit take-action if you want to push back on the cameras your city council approved without asking you first.
