We got De-Flocked! Somebody cut it down and took it #deflock #foryou #fyp #flockcameras #spycamera
The short version: A homeowner's video shows a Flock ALPR camera cut down and removed outside their neighborhood, capturing the raw frustration many communities feel toward unaccountable surveillance infrastructure.
Our Take
Credit to A Life of Hobbies for capturing something we hear about constantly but rarely see on camera: a neighborhood fed up enough with an unannounced Flock Safety ALPR install that someone took matters into their own hands. We don't endorse vandalism — it's illegal, it can get the remover charged with destruction of property, and it does nothing to fix the underlying policy failure that let the camera go up without a public vote in the first place.
But the impulse behind the clip is worth sitting with. These cameras routinely appear on utility poles and street corners with no community meeting, no opt-in, and no real explanation of who's storing your plate, your travel patterns, and your location history, or for how long. When residents feel their only recourse is a pair of bolt cutters, that's a sign the normal channels for consent and oversight have already broken down.
If there's a Flock camera near you and you want to know about it before it becomes a flashpoint, check our map to see what's already been documented in your area, and use our take-action guide to push back the legal way — public records requests, city council meetings, and local ordinances actually change policy instead of just creating a replacement invoice for Flock.
