Buy our merch to spread the word

DeFlock Shop · 2 months ago

The short version: DeFlock Shop is selling merch to turn everyday gear into conversation-starters about ALPR surveillance and fund grassroots awareness.

Our Take

Credit where it's due: DeFlock Shop is trying something simple but useful — turning t-shirts, stickers, and hats into mobile billboards for a surveillance issue most Americans have never heard of. Most people walk past a Flock Safety camera every day without knowing what it is, who's watching the footage, or how long it's kept. A shirt that sparks a question at the grocery store or a sticker that gets someone to look up "ALPR" is a low-effort way to chip away at that blind spot.

Merch obviously isn't the whole fight, but visibility matters when the infrastructure being normalized is largely invisible by design. These cameras get bolted to poles with little public debate, feed license plate data into regional and national networks, and rarely come up for a vote. Anything that gets more people asking "wait, what is that camera and who has access to my location history?" is doing real work.

If a shirt gets you curious, go further than curious. Check our camera map to see what's already deployed near you, and head to our take-action page for ways to push back at the city council level, not just the merch table.
