Flock CEO Drops 'Antifa' Bombshell on DEFLOCK #flockcameras

Full Armour Media Group · 1 month ago

The short version: Flock's CEO calling camera-mapping activists 'closer to Antifa than anything else' is a smear that conflates lawful documentation with vandalism to dodge accountability.

Our Take

Credit to Full Armour Media Group for surfacing this clip, because it's worth sitting with: the head of a company that sells government agencies a nationwide license-plate surveillance network just reached for 'terrorist' and 'Antifa' to describe people who track where his cameras are installed. That's not a rebuttal, it's a deflection. Mapping public infrastructure and criticizing a surveillance vendor is core First Amendment activity, not domestic terrorism, no matter how uncomfortable it makes the company whose business model depends on nobody looking too closely.

It's also worth separating two very different things the CEO's rhetoric blurs together: documenting camera locations versus physically removing hardware. One is transparency work that lets ordinary people understand how often they're being tracked driving to the grocery store. The other is a separate legal and tactical question entirely. Lumping them together under a political slur is a convenient way to avoid answering harder questions — like who has access to Flock's data, how long it's retained, and why a private company's network of plate readers has quietly become a de facto backbone for law enforcement surveillance with minimal public oversight.

When a CEO's response to scrutiny is to reach for 'Antifa' instead of answering for retention policies and audit logs, that tells you something about where the real power imbalance sits. Check our camera map to see what's been documented near you, and head to our take-action page if you want to push back through your city council instead of a wrench.
