Prosper Police Department

Flock · 9 months ago

The short version: Flock's own promo for Prosper PD shows drones, ALPRs, and PTZ cameras merging into one surveillance net — straight from the company selling it.

Our Take

This one isn't a news report, it's a sales reel. Flock Safety made this video, and it shows: breathless talk of 'eyes on a scene in under two minutes' and an 'integrated approach' that's a 'game changer' reads like a pitch deck, because it is one. Prosper Police Department is the showcase customer, but the real audience is every other city council deciding whether to sign a Flock contract.

What's actually being described, though, deserves scrutiny regardless of who's narrating it. Drone-as-first-responder programs stacked on top of automated license plate readers, mobile camera trailers, and pan-tilt-zoom cameras isn't just 'situational awareness' — it's a layered surveillance net that tracks movement across a town in real time, with little public input on retention, access, or audit policies. Flock's own marketing credits itself with wanting to 'eliminate crime,' a goal nobody opposes, but the methods getting rolled out town by town rarely get the same debate a new patrol car or precinct would.

We cover these systems because promotional polish shouldn't be the only public record of how they operate. Check our map to see if Prosper or your own city has deployed this gear, and visit take action if you want to push back on secretive expansion of ALPR networks in your community.
