Folsom City Council Districts 1, 3, & 5 Election Forum - September 14, 2026

Our Take

Credit to Metro Cable 14 for airing this unglamorous but important civic ritual: a candidate forum for Folsom's Districts 1, 3, and 5 council seats. These forums rarely trend, but they're where the real decisions about local surveillance infrastructure get made. City councils — not police chiefs, not state legislators — are usually the ones who vote to fund, renew, or expand ALPR networks like Flock Safety's camera grid.

If you live in Folsom or anywhere else with a contested council race, this is your cue to ask candidates directly: do they know how many ALPR cameras are already deployed in their district, who has access to the data, and how long it's retained? Most incumbents and challengers alike have never been pressed on this. A forum is the perfect venue to change that, and local reporting like this gives residents a rare chance to hear candidates on record before ballots are cast.
