Twenty-five cameras down in one metro isn't a fluke, it's a message. FOX 4's Alex Boyer lays out how Dallas PD is now treating vandalism reports as a routine line item, which tells you the department knew this fight was coming and installed first, asked questions later. When a city has to keep a running tally of destroyed surveillance poles, that's not a technical problem, it's a consent problem.

What's missing from most of this coverage, and probably from the police department's talking points, is any real accounting of how these cameras are actually being used once they're up. Who queries the plate reads, how long the data sits in Flock's system, whether it gets shared with other agencies or federal databases, none of that gets settled by swapping in a sturdier pole or a hidden bracket. Dallas residents deserve those answers before the next round of cameras goes in, not after the next one gets cut down.

We'd rather see people organizing and showing up to council meetings than climbing poles at 2 a.m, but we get why frustration is boiling over when transparency has been in short supply.
