Citizens, what do you think about FLOCK cameras? #flock #flockcameras #daltonga

The short version: A Dalton, Georgia creator takes to the streets to ask everyday citizens what they actually think of Flock cameras, and the answers matter more than city councils let on.

Our Take

Credit to EakDaFreak for doing something most local officials never bother with: actually asking regular people how they feel about having their license plates logged every time they drive through town. Vox-pop videos like this are a useful gut check on the gap between what city councils approve in a consent-agenda vote and what the people living under those cameras actually want.

Dalton is a small city, and that's exactly the point — ALPR dragnets aren't just a big-metro story. Flock's pitch to small-town police departments has been relentless, and plenty of these systems get installed with little public debate, no opt-out, and years of retained location data on drivers who've never been accused of anything. When you ask citizens directly, as this video does, you tend to hear a lot more unease than the marketing materials suggest.

If you're in Dalton or anywhere else wondering whether Flock is already watching your street, check our camera map to see what's been documented nearby, and visit our take-action page for ways to push back at your next city council meeting.
