Pflugerville's flirtation with a 'transparency dashboard' is a familiar move in the surveillance industry playbook — when public trust erodes, don't reduce the cameras, just add a shinier interface that makes people feel like they have oversight. A dashboard telling residents what the policy says isn't the same as an audit proving the policy is actually followed, and it's certainly not the same as giving residents a vote on whether these cameras exist at all.

What's notable here is the skepticism itself.
